| 摘要 | This paper investigates the genitive subject and its transitivity restriction in adnominal clauses in Sibe. Two main findings emerged from this study. First, it is found that the genitive subject in Sibe can co-occur in the same clause with the accusative object marked by =we, indicating that there is no trans-itivity restriction. Second, in negative sentences, the interpretations of scope between the genitive subject and negation allow for only a total negation interpretation. The absence of transitivity restriction suggests that the genitive subject in Sibe does not remain within the vP domain, in accordance with The subject-in-situ generalization (simplified as SSG) (Alexiadou and Anagnostopoulou 2001, 2007). Regarding the scope interactions with negation, the fact that the genitive subject in adnominal clauses can only be interpreted as the total negation interpretation implies that it must take a wider scope than negation and does not stay within the vP. Based on these results, I claim in this paper that the genitive subject in adnominal clauses in Sibe is not positioned internally within the vP; rather, it must be licensed outside the vP domain. |
