摘要 Co-injection molding is commonly used to our life and technology product. However, there are too many factors affect the quality of co-injection product, including product design, mold system design, material combination and operating conditions. It makes that control core material penetration is very difficult. In this study, we use CAE simulation (Moldex3D) and experimental study to investigate the advancement distance of core material and relationship with the mechanical properties of co-injection product. We use the standard tensile bar (ASTM D638 TYPE V) system. First, we validate the flow behavior observation in CAE simulation and experimentally short shot test and skin/core ratio effect test. Moreover, we find the optimized skin/core ratio that influence on core material penetration behavior. We further quantify the core material penetration, both simulation prediction and experimental observation are performed. Moreover, the flow rate also can influence core material penetration. Finally, we use tensile testing machine to realize that the mechanical properties correlation with core material penetration. Results show that CAE simulation and experimental are match. Moreover, the tensile strength enhance that reinforced polypropylene as core material.
