摘要薄膜技術為近年來廣受重視的科技, 許多基礎與應用問題皆與其密 切相關。在擬進行的研究計畫中,吾人將以一軟球粒子在圓管中受外加 電場之驅動為例,分三個階段探討薄膜系統中的電泳現象。第一階段中 將考慮一表面覆蓋一均勻帶電的高分子薄膜的複合球形粒子在圓管中的電泳 動; 旨在探討薄膜特性與邊界效應對複合球形粒子電泳行為的影響,擬討論的 參數包括薄膜厚度、薄膜內的摩擦係數與電荷濃度、粒子與管徑的距離以及溶液中 的離子強度。第二階段內則考慮圓柱管管壁內帶有多孔性薄膜;據文獻中 有限的資料推測,管壁內所帶之多孔性薄膜層將會對粒子之電泳行為有 重要的影響。最後的階段將考慮橢球形粒子在一管壁內覆蓋多孔性薄膜 層中的電泳問題。由於多數粒子或生物細胞並非圓球形,採用橢球形粒 子,雖然使得問題分析更加複雜,但較能符合實際情況,值得深入研究。 吾人擬進行者,為文獻中迄今關於薄膜系統內電泳相關主題中最完整的 分析,所獲結果將可提供實驗現象之闡釋與毛細電泳設計方面重要的資 訊。 Membrane technology, which has potential applications in numerous areas, has drawn the attention of researches of various fields. In the proposed three-years study we will consider the behavior of a moving soft particle, driven by an external electric field, in a cylindrical pore. Here, a particle comprises a rigid core and an ion-penetrable membrane. In the first phase of the proposed study, the translation of a spherical soft particle in a rigid cylindrical pore will be investigated. The influence of the key parameters, including the thickness, the charged conditions and the friction coefficient of the membrane layer, the relative size of a cylindrical pore, and the ionic concentration on the behavior of a particle. In the second phase of the propose study, the cylindrical pore is covered by an ion-penetrable membrane layer. Limited information gathered so far implies that the presence of a membrane on the boundary may influence significantly the behavior of a particle. The last phase of the proposed research will focus on the behavior of a non-spherical soft particle. To this end, an elliptical particle is chosen to simulated particles of various shapes. The proposed study is by far the most thorough analysis in the literature regarding the electrophoresis in a membrane system.
