| 摘要 | The article was prepared based on the materials of the report at the International Scientific and Practical Conference GEOMOS26 (Gersevanov Research Institute of Bases and Underground Structures, Moscow, March 2026). The liquefaction potential index, PL, has been widely used by geotechnical engineers in estimating the soil liquefaction damage of sites. In this paper, a weighted root-mean-square value of the factors of safety is presented as the total factor of safety, FStotal, from the use of the empirical method of soil liquefaction analysis. The correlations between the FStotal and the PL are discussed based on a multi-layered sand profile model using the HBF method. For a number of seismic scenarios studied, it was found that FStotal < 0.85 is equivalent to PL > 15. FStotal > 0.95 can be regarded as slight liquefaction. For FStotal in the range of 0.85~0.95, the site is moderately liquefied. The use of the total factor of safety can provide a feasible assessment more directly based on the factor of safety calculated through the empirical method. |
