| 摘要 | Rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) have reshaped career trajectories, presenting both opportunities and challenges for professionals. In this study, we identified conditions under which AI technologies may help employees experiencing work anomia achieve subjective career success. A comprehensive two-phase, mixed- methods, multiwave analysis was conducted to capture the complexity and multifaceted nature of AI-related career events. The final sample consisted of 238 professional employees. In phase 1, employees described specific AI-related career events, which were systematically analyzed and classified within the human–technology relations framework through cluster analysis with the Linguistic Inquiry and Word Count tool. Three types of AI-related career events were identified: instrumental, inclusive, and detached. In phase 2, these event types were further examined in relation to event characteristics (i.e., disruption and criticality), work anomia, and their collective interactions with subjective career success. The evidence supports an exploratory comparison between inclusive and instrumental AI events under differing levels of work anomia, in which the positive association between event criticality and subjective career success appears more pronounced for inclusive AI events. These findings contribute to an understanding of the association between technology-driven events and employees’ career outcomes in the engineering management literature, and offer insights that may inform management practices to support employee adaptation to AI-driven work |
