摘要 Shape-stabilized phase change materials (PCMs) are widely used for thermal energy storage, but many suffer from poor mechanical strength and thermal stability, especially under high-temperature or flexible conditions. Conventional strategies rely on embedding PCMs into flexible supporting matrices, increasing process complexity and environmental burden. In this study, we propose a simple, eco-friendly method to fabricate flexible, shape-stabilized PCMs without additional support materials. High-molecular-weight poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO, 300,000 g/mol) was used as both the matrix and phase change component, processed via water-based solvent casting. The resulting PEO-based PCMs exhibit excellent flexibility, even above their melting temperature, along with a high latent enthalpy of 151.14 J/g and thermal conductivity of 0.29 W/m·K. To further enhance performance, eco-friendly silica was incorporated as a filler. The silica-incorporated PEO PCMs exhibited significantly enhanced leakage resistance, mechanical strength, thermal reliability (maintaining structural stability at 120 °C for 30 min), and energy storage capacity (retaining a latent enthalpy of 116.46 J/g), along with excellent thermal conductivity (0.40 W/m·K). This work introduces a sustainable, low-cost alternative for preparing high-performance, flexible PCMs and expands the application potential of high-molecular-weight PEO in thermal energy management systems.
