| 摘要 | Vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFBs) are recognized as a highly promising solution for large-scale energy storage systems. However, its widespread market adoption has been hindered by significant capital costs, particularly the expenses associated with electrolytes. Spent catalysts from petrochemical and petroleum refining industries contain substantial amounts of vanadium metal. Without appropriate treatment, these spent catalysts pose an environmental threat because metals can leach into water sources after disposal and contaminate the surroundings. In this paper, we propose a feasible strategy for recycling vanadium from spent catalysts to prepare vanadium electrolytes for use in VRFBs. The electrochemical properties of the vanadium electrolytes obtained from spent catalysts in a circular economy were compared with those of commercial products, demonstrating remarkable VRFB performance with an energy efficiency of 83.75 % at a current density of 40 mA/cm2. Furthermore, the recycled electrolyte exhibited excellent cycling stability, retaining 80.7 % of its capacity after 200 cycles, comparable to commercial electrolytes. This approach yielded high-quality electrolytes for VRFBs and addressed the environmental challenges of industrial waste. |
