| 摘要 | Underlying the importance of historical sources as the framework of Shakespeare's plays, Cinematic Shakespeare in the Realm of History Unpacks a few texts of Shakespeare involving English history chronologically from the fourteenth century to the early stage of the House of Stuart, suggesting that his plays are in large part the product of English history or imbricated sets of socio-political issues. The film adaptations of Henry V, Richard III, Othello, Macbeth, and The Tempest are the selected texts to explore the plays and their specific historical moments that give a depiction of the socio-political situation and deliberately connect the dramatic tale told and moment of its telling, making the story from the past comment on the present, and reflecting contemporary truth at the moment of production in each case. |
