Our findings are different from the results of earlier studies without the spatial effects perspective. The GDP per capita of Korean main trade-partner countries is the major Korean OFDI determinants. Korean OFDI favored economies with a higher degree of trade openness. Korean OFDI took advantage of the economic integrati

Applying Spatial Durbin Panel ModelYi-cheng Liu; Wen YangSpatial Durbin Panel Model;US exports;US trade deficit;Exports Determinants;Spatial PatternsBAM Conference 2019, Birmingham, UK.This paper provides valuable insights for improving the persistent US trade-deficit issue from geospatial perspective. The main US export destinations are the West-European countries of the European Union and Japan. The determinants of the US exports were highly related to countries with outward foreign direct investment from the US corporations and were highly open for international trade. Also, these countries tended to have a higher GDP per capita and have regional economic integration agreements according to empirical evidence of the Spatial Durbin Panel Model. Our paper is substantively important because spatial quantitative techniques eliminate the bias when spatial effects exist. Intriguingly, some o

The optimal foreign entry mode could differ under each pricing policy. Under Cournot competition, firms’ technological gap and the initial local market structure are critical to the choice of foreign entry mode, whereas product substitutability is important under Bertrand competition. In the presence of foreign entry, this paper also examines the welfare effects of input price discrimination for the host country.en_US國外SSCI;是USA

For aid-giving countries, the benefits of promoting the influx of FDI to recipient countries are significant. Moreover, the merits for recipient countries are also considerable, and have the potential to lead to economic development through the advancement of infrastructure development and the resolution of domestic savings shortfalls in the form of ODA and FDI. Against this background, in this paper, I would like to verify whether inflows of ODA to developing countries have the effect of promoting

Using a smooth transition regression model to a panel of developing and advanced countries over the period of 1976–2005, the results indicate that financial development indeed defines the relationship between FDI and inequality. FDI raises income inequality and the effect becomes stronger in magnitude with financial sophistication. The results also indicate a large variation in the FDI effect across countries and over time, contingent on financial development. (JEL C23, F40, O15)en_US國外SSCI;否USA

By analyzing wholly-owned investment and equity joint venture in vertically related industries, I find that as IPR protection gets more stringent, the propensity to choose equity joint venture decreases. Analysis of the firm-level data set from Taiwanese multinational manufacturing enterprises (MNEs) in 2006 lends supports to this result. This paper also finds that local welfare increases after entry of a multinational enterprise (MNE) if the local market size is not too large. In
