The Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) protocol is an important standard for HFC networks and is supported by the majority of current vendors. This protocol uses the Truncated Binary Exponential Back-off (TBEB) algorithm to resolve collisions within the network by means of a back-off window.
