The design parameters of the test model were chosen to emulate a geotextile-reinforced granular column prototype to ensure a comparable behavior. The performance of the internally reinforced sand columns was evaluated in terms of its load carrying capability and bulging behavior. The test results show that a reduction of spacing between two consecutive reinforcement layer discs allowed by a column with strong reinforcement will lead to an increase in the bearing capability of the column.
