摘要 | Computational fluid dynamics software, FLUENT, was used to simulate the flow field of small horizontal-axis wind turbines (HAWTs). A series of tests were conducted in a low speed wind tunnel to validate the numerical results. Our study demonstrates that grid density very near the blade surface has decisive effects on the accuracy of numerical solutions. The discrepancies between calculated and experimental power coefficients were larger for two-bladed HAWTs but smaller for three- and six-bladed HAWTs. The trends of the performance curves obtained numerically are close to that obtained experimentally. Our conclusion is that FLUENT can be a useful tool in the design of small HAWTs. |
